Things are Picking up Steam

17 March 2010 11 Comments

We’ve had an incredible roller-coaster ride over the last week or so.

We decided that our house was a little out of the way and started looking for somewhere with more passing traffic to situate the Hot Dogs for Haiti fundraiser.

We found an empty plot of land on a fairly busy street corner and asked the owner if we could use it for the fundraiser and he was only too willing to help. He even told us he’d distribute some fliers for us.

I sent an email to the local newspaper (The Hanford Sentinel) and within a couple of hours they had called me back asking if they could do an interview with us.

A lovely reporter named Victoria came over to our house after school on Friday and interviewed us all for about an hour and the article ran on the front page this Tuesday!!!! (read the article here)

We’re beginning to think we might get quite a few people coming and have no idea how many hot dogs we should buy!

Our hope is that we will be able to raise $500 in the two hours we are doing it and, God willing, with the exposure we’ve had we’ll sail past that mark.

The new location is: The corner of Ivy and Reddington in Hanford, CA

Time and date: 11am-1pm Saturday March 20th 2010.

Peter…. Are you prepared to buy all those hot dogs? Maybe you could put up that paypal info you had a while back, and we could contributed to your efforts.
    Just a suggestion.

I hope this is just the start of a great model for living for our family.

    Hi Helen,

That's so very sweet of you! Thank you!

Our church is paying for all of the supplies though.

Maybe I could post a PayPal link for people who can't come to buy hot dogs but want to donate anyway though….

Peter — that's a great family picture. And I really like the look and feel of the new blog.

    Can you ship hot dogs?

This is great, Peter. God bless you and your family for doing this. If I wasn't putting on my own event at the same time, I'd be tempted to drive on up. Way to go.
